I was contacted by a literary agent, Rupert Heath, at the end of 2007. He has been extremely helpful and very generous with his time and advice, as a result of which I have completely rethought the book, planned it all out and begun work on the writing. You can still see the old version by clicking on the link above. Otherwise, click to read the chapters I have so far.
Please ignore the beginning of chapter 1, and much else besides. A lot will change. Chapters ending in F are finished (sort of, and they will change). Those ending in R are readable but rough (the whole thing is there, though there are still notes to myself, etc.) and those ending in U are unfinished.
The book is set in the Boer War, in South Africa, and begins in October 1899.
