Everything below was last updated on 7 December 2007. Pretty much every chapter listed has moved on by at least one draft, and there are several new chapters. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that Part I now has its full complement of chapters (though that doesn’t mean it’s finished).

This is the book I’m concentrating on at the moment. At some point I’ll probably post an explanation of why I’m writing this book. For now, I’ll just say that Neil Ferguson, who teaches an excellent class on novel writing at the City Lit, advised me to work on this rather than Tonyconomics. It has gone down well with my new writing group too, but I’d like to know what you think.
If you’re interested, I hope you’ll be able to watch the book’s progress here. I aim to keep this page reasonably up to date with the latest word-count and all the latest versions of chapters.
A friend of mine, John Lenahan, who’s just about to have his book published, always tells me that the secret of finishing a book is to become obsessed with the word count. Well, that’s just what I’m going to try to do.

The files listed as chapter dividers are just that, being mainly to separate the sections when I periodically print the whole thing out. They do have brief explanations of what that part of the book covers though. Like everything else, I’ll be updating them from time to time, so they should become less scrappy than they are now.
